Botanic Ridge Doctors is a bulk-billed family medical clinic with onsite Allied Health, located in Botanic Ridge Village. Our team includes experienced GPs, practice nurses, and a network of visiting specialists.

Standard GP consultations are bulk billed for all eligible Medicare patients. Walk-ins are accommodated where possible.

HC, MC, MR, LR licences, public bus, dangerous goods (DG) and heavy combination drivers. Full Austroads-compliant assessment.

Diabetic Driver

Diabetic Driver

Annual or biennial assessment for licence retention. HbA1c, eye check, hypoglycaemia history. Conditional licence support.

CAMS, MA, FIA medicals for circuit racing, rally, drag, off-road and motorsport competition.

For full DAME aviation medicals (commercial pilot Class 1, private pilot Class 2, ATC Class 3) we provide referrals to a CASA-approved DAME.

Bring your licence/permit forms already filled out where possible, your photo ID, glasses (if worn), and any recent specialist letters. Allow 30 minutes for the appointment.
04 What to expect

How your appointment typically flows.

Drivers licence medicals are required by VicRoads for older drivers, commercial drivers, and drivers with certain medical conditions. Allow 30 minutes.

Book with the right form

Bring the VicRoads form provided to you. Reception can advise which appointment length is needed.

ii.

History & medications

Your GP reviews medical history, medications that affect driving, and any prior incidents.

iii.

Examination

Vision test, blood pressure, neurological examination as relevant, and cardiac assessment for some commercial categories.

iv.

Form & report

Your GP completes the form. Most are returned to you on the day. Some require additional investigation and follow-up.

Drivers licence medicals are not Medicare rebatable for the assessment itself. Fee depends on the medical type (private driver vs commercial). Reception will quote at booking. Bring your form, glasses, current medications and any prior medical reports.

Is the test bulk billed?
No — drivers licence assessments are not Medicare funded.
How long does it take?
Most medicals take 30 minutes. Commercial driver medicals may take 45–60 minutes.
What should I bring?
Bring the VicRoads form, photo ID, your glasses if you wear them, your current medication list, and any recent test results or specialist reports.
Can I drive after a medical that finds I'm not fit?
If your GP identifies that you don't meet the medical standard, they have a legal obligation to report this to VicRoads. Discuss any concerns openly during your consultation.
