09 FAQs

Paediatric Health — frequently asked questions

Are children's appointments bulk billed?

Yes — all eligible patients with a valid Medicare card are bulk billed for standard consultations. Childhood NIP vaccines are also free.

My baby has a fever — should I come in?

Babies under 3 months with any fever (≥38°C) need same-day medical assessment — call us or, if we're closed, attend Casey Hospital. Older babies and children with fever for <48 hours, drinking, alert and active are usually OK to monitor at home; come in if symptoms persist or worsen.

Can I bring multiple children to one appointment?

Each child needs their own appointment slot for safety and proper time — please book separately, especially if more than one child needs to be examined.

Do you do paediatric ADHD diagnosis?

GPs in Australia cannot diagnose ADHD definitively in children — diagnosis requires a paediatrician or child psychiatrist. We perform initial screening, gather school questionnaires, and refer for specialist assessment.

What if my child is needle-phobic for vaccines?

We have several strategies — distraction, numbing cream (apply 30 min before), holding techniques, and FluMist Nasal Spray for the flu vaccine in kids 2+. Speak to reception when booking and we'll allow extra time.
